So, now what?

I finally imported my LJ account to DW, now not sure what to do with the LJ account... I've been thinking that deleting it might be the best option, but I'm not sure. What are the rest of the kids doing?

Women's March

I knitted three hats to send to the Pussy Hat Project for the Women's March in DC. They had forms you could put in the hats with your contact information (if you wanted) to thank people for wearing them.

I heard back from one of my hat wearers, and she sent me a picture of the march!

Womens March DC

How cool is that??

Pussy Hat

I mentioned the Pussy Hat Project a while back, and I have made three hats that are now in the mail for the Women's Marchers on Jan. 21 in Washington, DC...

Picture behind the cut... )

The goal is to have the hats look like Pussy Ears to remind our new Pussy Grabber In Chief that we know who and what he is.

Happy 424th, Duncan!

For the Highland Child, born on the Winter Solstice, we wish a very happy 424th birthday to Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod!

Pussy Hat Project!

I saw this mentioned on my Twitter feed, and it sure seems like a good idea. I can't go to DC to the march, but I'd sure like to support those who will be there at the Women's march on January 21, 2017!

The Pussy Hat Project

I'm going to see if I can get at least a few of these knitted and sent off for the marchers to wear...

The emporer has no balls...

So, we've all heard about the half dozen or so naked Donald Trump statues that showed up in cities around the country, right? The one in New York City has been taken down already, but they issued this statement:

"NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small."
— Josh Dawsey (@jdawsey1) August 18, 2016

And after I stopped laughing, I knew I had to share...

Politics. Sorry...

Robert Reich posted a link to this really interesting article about how authoritarian candidates can rise, and so quickly (like Trump). It's long, but worth the read:

I love SyFy!

In case anybody in the US of A is looking for an alternative to politics on tv this week, SyFy is showing cheesy CGI monsters (snakes, sharks, octopus, piranha, etc, etc) all week, ending the week with the premiere of Sharknado 4!

"Groundbreaking" book

Amazon pimped this book to me yesterday which claims to be some kind of groundbreaking study of fanfiction... Wonder if anybody knows anything about it:

Why Fanfiction is Taking Over The World by Anne Jamison (from University of Utah)

*grumble*

It's not a big deal compared to what others are going through, but a couple of weeks ago I jammed the middle finger of my left hand, and damaged something so I couldn't straighten the end joint. I wasn't too worried on account of no real pain, no bleeding, clearly not life threatening. I made a Dr. appt which was this morning. They took x-rays and examined it, turns out I managed to do a small fracture to one of the bones and tore/damaged something soft-tissue-ish that's making it so I can't straighten the finger. Upshot is that I now have to wear a splint on the finger 24/7 for the next six weeks. If I let it bend at all, whatever soft tissue healing is going on will get broken again. This makes typing very complicated. Plus, when I mentioned all the things I have to do these days, they said no holding dog leashes in the left hand. Uh huh. Sure. Like that'll happen... (for those that don't know, dogs in training all work on the left side of the handler).

And as if that wasn't enough, since I was at a hand Dr. I mentioned the trigger finger problem I have on my right hand (bent finger gets stuck and you have to force it straight again), so they gave me a cortisone shot in that hand, which makes it feel achey today...

Need a new printer...

My Canon printer has finally worn out, by which I mean I can hear nothing but the gears skipping as it tries to initialize. It's been coming for a while, so it's not a surprise, but it is annoying.

Anybody out there got recs for a good all-in-one printer/scanner, preferably ink jet, preferably with separate color cartridges, preferably not over $150? Oh, and it has to talk to Windows 7 :)

ETA: Found an HP 6830e on the Fry's website, and it's marked down from $180 to $100, and it looks very tempting. May stop by and have a look at it...

Again with the phones... :)

I've been doing my research and talking to people and from what I can tell the audio quality on Samsung and iPhone are about the same, so I guess it comes down to bells and whistles...

My choices, still going with the VirginMobile plan I'm happy with, have narrowed down to:

Samsung Galaxy S5 or iPhone 6

Pros? Cons? Opinions of any sort welcomed :)

ETA: After doing more looking (and checking my finances), I ended up going with the Motorola Moto G, yeah, not one of the original options, but works with the same plan and costs $300 less, but thanks for all the help with the decision making!

The Player, anyone?

I don't know if anybody is watching The Player (Thursdays, NBC), but it amuses the hell out of me that the main character has the same name as the gay avenging hero written years ago by my favorite pornographer (John Preston) in his The Mission of Alex Kane series. Also, I freely admit my inner shallowness of watching Philip Winchester run around chewing the scenery.

More on The Sentinel release...

They've got a street date for the release of the full series of "The Sentinel", the best/worst "pre-slashed for your ease and convenience" show ever *G*

Looks like a Sept 22 release date

The Sentinel

Remember The Sentinel, the show so bad (and yet so slashy) it sparked tons and tons of fanfic? The show they never released on dvd (except for S1 which is now OOP)?

Looks like they're finally going to release the whole show...

Is it too late for Fandom to appreciate?

Terry Pratchett

Sad news today about the death of Terry Pratchett.

I've been going through the Escapade Swap Table items, and I found an audio book of his "Thief of Time", if anybody would like to have it. It's on cassette tapes, but appears to be complete and unabridged.

Reply if you're interested and we'll see about getting it mailed to you...

ETA: It's gone now...
